Brief Posting Description
The Senior Engineer – Hydraulics & Lubrication Maintenance is responsible for leading the maintenance, reliability, availability, and performance optimization of hydraulic and lubrication systems across the Copper Concentrator Plant.The role ensures the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of hydraulic power units (HPUs), centralized lubrication systems, oil circulation systems, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, accumulators, filtration systems, cooling systems, gear lubrication systems, and associated plant equipment through effective maintenance strategies, shutdown planning, reliability improvement initiatives, asset integrity management, and continuous improvement programs.The position provides technical leadership to maintenance teams, supports operational excellence, and maximizes equipment availability while minimizing lifecycle costs and production losses. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and reliability of hydraulic and lubrication systems associated with the Primary Crusher, Apron Feeders, Conveyors, Ore Stockpile Stacking and Reclaiming Systems, SAG Mill, Ball Mills, HIG Mill, Flotation Plant, Thickeners, Concentrate Filtration Plant, Slurry Pumps, Process Water Systems, and associated mechanical equipment.The role works closely with Operations, Reliability, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Project teams to achieve production, safety, reliability, and asset performance objectives while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and asset management standards
Detailed Description
HYDRAULICS & LUBRICATION MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT
Lead maintenance activities for hydraulic and lubrication systems associated with the concentrator plant and supporting infrastructure.
Ensure maintenance practices support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
Monitor equipment condition and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with OEM recommendations, maintenance standards, and statutory requirements.
Support long-term asset lifecycle management and replacement planning.
Provide technical guidance on hydraulic and lubrication maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
Establish lubrication excellence and contamination control programs across all critical assets.
EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY & PERFORMANCE
Lead reliability improvement initiatives for hydraulic power units, lubrication skids, gear lubrication systems, pumps, cylinders, valves, accumulators, filtration systems, coolers, and associated equipment.
Analyze equipment failures and identify opportunities to improve reliability and maintainability.
Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for major equipment breakdowns.
Facilitate Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
Identify recurring equipment issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Develop reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
Monitor equipment performance against established reliability and availability KPIs.
Drive oil analysis and contamination control programs for critical plant equipment.
MAINTENANCE PLANNING & EXECUTION
Support development of annual maintenance plans and budgets for hydraulic and lubrication assets.
Review and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Optimize maintenance frequencies and task scopes based on equipment criticality and performance.
Coordinate maintenance resources for planned and corrective maintenance activities.
Ensure work orders are properly executed, documented, and closed in SAP PM.
Improve maintenance work management processes and effectiveness.
Monitor maintenance backlog and prioritize critical equipment activities.
Develop lubrication routes, inspection programs, and condition-based maintenance plans.
SHUTDOWN & TURNAROUND MANAGEMENT
Lead preparation and execution of hydraulic and lubrication system shutdown activities.
Develop shutdown scopes, resource requirements, budgets, and schedules.
Coordinate contractors, OEM specialists, and internal teams during shutdown execution.
Monitor shutdown progress and manage critical path activities.
Ensure shutdown work complies with safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Conduct post-shutdown reviews and capture lessons learned.
ASSET INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT
Ensure the integrity and reliability of hydraulic and lubrication systems associated with critical plant assets.
Monitor performance of lubrication systems, oil circulation systems, filtration units, accumulators, and hydraulic power units.
Review inspection findings and establish corrective maintenance actions.
Support condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs.
Participate in risk assessments and asset criticality evaluations.
Ensure compliance with asset management standards and engineering requirements.
Maintain hydraulic cleanliness targets and lubrication management standards.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT & TROUBLESHOOTING
Provide advanced troubleshooting support for hydraulic and lubrication system failures.
Review oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, and condition monitoring reports.
Diagnose issues related to contamination, overheating, pressure fluctuations, leakage, pump failures, valve malfunctions, and lubrication deficiencies.
Support operations in resolving equipment performance and reliability issues.
Evaluate equipment modifications and engineering improvements.
Review OEM recommendations, technical reports, and equipment upgrade proposals.
Support commissioning, testing, and startup of new equipment and system modifications.
COST CONTROL & BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Support the preparation and management of annual maintenance budgets for hydraulic and lubrication systems and associated critical plant equipment.
Monitor maintenance expenditure against approved budgets and identify cost variances and corrective actions.
Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance costs without compromising safety, equipment reliability, lubrication effectiveness, or plant performance.
Support lifecycle cost analysis and maintenance/replacement planning for hydraulic and lubrication assets.
Develop and support business cases for hydraulic system upgrades, lubrication system improvements, reliability initiatives, and equipment replacement projects.
Optimize maintenance costs through effective spare parts management, lubricant consumption control, contractor management, and maintenance strategy optimization.
Ensure effective financial governance, cost tracking, reporting, and budget control for maintenance activities.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, hydraulic system performance, and lubrication effectiveness.
Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs and minimize unplanned downtime.
Implement reliability improvement and Lean Maintenance methodologies.
Develop business cases for equipment upgrades and improvement projects.
Track and report benefits realized from improvement initiatives.
Promote lubrication excellence and maintenance best practices across the organization.

Job Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field or higher Diploma
Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years or Higher Diploma with 15+ years of experience in a Copper Concentrator Plant or related process plant with similar type of equipment is must.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in hydraulic and lubrication maintenance and reliability engineering is must.
• Proven track record of successfully managing maintenance and reliability of critical hydraulic and lubrication assets in large-scale mineral processing plants.
Certifications: Candidates holding or pursuing any of the following certifications will have an added advantage
• ICML Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT)
• ICML Machinery Lubrication Analyst (MLA)
• Six-sigma (BB)
Technical Skills:
• Maintenance experience in hydraulic power units (HPUs), hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, accumulators, filtration systems, oil coolers, lubrication skids, centralized lubrication systems, and oil circulation systems is mandatory.
• Maintenance experience in Primary Crushers, Apron Feeders, Conveyors, Ore Stockpile Stacking & Reclaiming Systems, SAG Mills, Ball Mills, HIG Mills, Thickeners, Concentrate Filtration Systems, and Slurry Pumps is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of lubrication management, contamination control, oil analysis, reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, and asset performance management.
• Strong knowledge of SAP PM, CMMS/ERP systems, RCFA, FMEA, and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies.
• Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, and condition monitoring techniques will be an added advantage.
