JOB PURPOSE:
The Deputy Director supports the Scholarship Director in all facets of development, planning, implementation and communication of the programme; the relationship will be one of mentoring and succession planning in anticipation of a continuing and sustainable programme. S/he will have responsibility to ensure that communications with stakeholders; sponsors, candidates, scholars and parents are clear and continuous and will also assume responsibility for special projects and development of new programs as required and assigned. In the absence of the Director, the Deputy Director shall act in that capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A blend of academic, administrative, outreach, business development and management tasks to support all elements of the Scholarship Directorate, including but not limited to:
• Academic, administrative and operational oversight
• National and international liaison with academic institutions
• Communications with parents, students, public and private sectors on all aspects of the programme
• Student welfare, selection, placement, monitoring and evaluation
• Policy, planning and development of new and existing programs
• Oversight of all technical areas required for the scholarship programs
• Support in strategic planning and financial and budgeting processes
• Works closely with Director in all areas of programme development and delivery
• Perform other duties as assigned or required by Scholarship Director

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Skills:
• Familiarity with national and international tertiary education systems
• Familiarity with learning culture of the Sultanate of Oman and learning styles of Omani students
• Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English
• Good ICT skills for academic and administrative purposes
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively with a small team in a complex environment
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Strong commitment to the goals of the Takatuf Scholarship Programmes
• Strong work ethic demonstrated in previous positions/accomplishments
• Comfort working in a dynamic environment and willingness to engage in all necessary tasks, large and small
• Demonstrated ability to maintain the integrity, security and transparency of academic processes
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, both nationally and internationally
• Demonstrated ability to accept delegated tasks, follow directions and complete assignments in a timely, accurate, effective and professional manner
Minimum Qualification/Experience:
• Earned doctorate from an internationally recognized and fully accredited university preferably earned 5 years ago or more.
• Academic administrative experience at the tertiary level, including teaching, evaluation, research, service and institutional management/accountability at a senior level for no less than 8 years in total.
